Simon Woodrow
A forester by trade, Simon Woodrow patrols the woodland surrounding the Manor, where the game is reared. He is also an expert falconer, which brings in money for the Covenant, and has a good knowledge of plants and herbs, as well as certain forms of chirurgy (field surgery). His jet black hair and beard are closely cropped, and he dresses in neutral, earthy tones, often marked with soil and travel dust. He often works hooded and cloaked to protect from the bitter outdoor weather. Women are unaccountably drawn to the silent ranger - stories whisper that this is part of a pact with Herne, an old pagan god of fertility, in exchange for either his life or his great knowledge of the forest - stories are confused as to which. This is widely believed to be what caused the breakdown of his marriage, although of course only the foolish mention this to Woodrow's face. He was beheaded by elves in 1241, and his still animate head remains trapped in the Court of Twilight and Gloaming.
